Travel Advisories and Restrictions from Around the World in view of COVID-19

When the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 novel coronavirus a global pandemic, many countries and governments scrambled to put preventive measures in place to combat the transmission through the implementation of entry restrictions and travel advisories. To support our affiliates and the tourism industry, we have gathered the latest updates by various official government agencies on how they are managing the COVID-19 pandemic and we hope it will be helpful in business continuity planning.

Countries with corresponding entry restrictions and travel advisories:

Travel Advisory

Australia

  • All international arrivals must self-isolate for 14 days
  • Bans entry of foreign nationals if they have visited mainland China, Iran, South Korea and Italy within the past 14 days
  • Bans cruise ships arriving from foreign ports for 30 days
  • China

  • Majority of new arrivals in Beijing are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine at a designated hotel or other assigned location
  • Hong Kong

  • Bans residents of China’s Hubei province from entering the city
  • All Hong Kong residents or travelers who have been in Hong Kong in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Israel
  • All international arrivals, excluding Macao and Taiwan, must self-isolate for 14 days
  • Indonesia

  • Banned all flights to and from mainland China since February 3
  • Restricts travelers who have been to mainland China from entering or transiting through Indonesia
  • Suspended the issuance of free visa and visa-on-arrival services for all Chinese citizens residing in Mainland China
  • India

  • Suspended travel and tourism visas (excluding diplomatic, official, U.N. or International Organizations, employment and project visas) till April 15
  • All domestic and international arrivals from China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain and Germany are required to undergo self-quarantine
  • Myanmar

  • Bans entry of foreign nationals who have visited the Hubei Province in China or the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in South Korea within the past 14 days
  • Myanmar nationals returning from the aforementioned areas will be quarantined in a public hospital for 14 days
  • Travelers from outside the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions in South Korea, Italy, Iran, France, Spain and Germany are required to present medical certificates certifying a lack of acute respiratory illness symptoms in order to enter Myanmar, where they will be quarantined at a public hospital for 14 days upon arrival
  • Japan

  • Bans entry of foreign travelers with Chinese passports issued by Hubei and Zhejiang provinces
  • Bans entry of foreign travelers who have visited regions in China with confirmed COVID-19 cases, South Korea, Iran and Italy within the last 14 days
  • Mongolia

  • Arriving Mongolian nationals who have recently traveled to China, Japan, South Korea, Italy and Iran are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine
  • Macao

  • Bans entry of Wuhan and Hubei residents without a medical declaration certifying their COVID-19-free health status
  • New Zealand

  • All domestic and international arrivals must self-isolate for 14 days, excluding travelers from small Pacific islands with no confirmed COVID-19 cases
  • Bans entry of foreign nationals traveling from or transiting through mainland China or Iran
  • Philippines

  • Banned the entry of visitors from all of China, including Hong Kong and Macao, while prohibiting Filipinos from traveling to those areas
  • Bans all domestic land, air, or sea travel to or from Metro Manila and Luzon Island until April 14
  • Bans all domestic land, air, or sea travel to or from Luzon Island until April 12
  • Singapore

  • Bans the entry and transit of all visitors with travel history to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Korea and China within the past 14 days
  • Residents with recent travel history to the aforementioned countries are required to self-isolate for 14 days
  • Residents and foreign nationals entering Singapore with recent travel history to ASEAN countries, Japan, Switzerland and the UK will be issued with a 14-day stay-home notice
  • Singaporeans have been advised to defer all travel to Hubei, China as well as non-essential travel to the rest of mainland China, Iran, Japan, and the Republic of Korea
  • Thailand

  • All Thailand residents or travelers who have been in Thailand in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter Israel
  • Requires all arriving Chinese tourists must provide medical certificates stating that they are healthy and free of COVID-19
  • Taiwan

  • Bans entry of foreign nationals who have visited China, Hong Kong and Macao within the past 14 days
  • Travelers arriving from European countries in the Schengen Area, the UK, Ireland and Dubai are required to undergo 14 days of self-quarantine
  • South Korea

  • Bans entry of foreigners with passports from China’s Hubei province, as well as those who have visited or stayed in Hubei within the past 14 days
  • Advised South Korean nationals to refrain from traveling to Singapore and five other Asian countries, in addition to China
  • International arrivals from select countries are required to submit papers on their health conditions
  • Malaysia

  • Bans entry of all foreign visitors
  • All Malaysians are disallowed from traveling abroad until 31 March
  • All returning Malaysians are required to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days
  • Vietnam

  • Bans entry of foreigners who have traveled to China, as well as Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk in South Korea within the past 14 days
  • Bans entry of foreigners who have traveled to Europe’s Schengen Area and Britain within the past 14 days until April 17
  • Other countries
